Great but need parts

Deserves a 5 star. Gave a 3. Great tent. But why is it so hard to find parts? I need the top cover above the tent. Just went through this same thing with my kids mountain bike we bought him a month ago. Starting to think about not buying at Canadian tire. Should carry parts for some of the common more expensive items you sell as bikes or tents as examples.

Spacious fair weather tent ONLY

We bought this tent at the beginning of our camping journey for the room and its very spacious and fairly easy to set up. It’s huge. Looks great, you can stand up in it too. We really liked it UNTIL we got rain and a little experience and then did some quick research. First rain with it and it was soaked in all corners and just TRY getting in the front entrance in muck and rain. It’s floppy and seams/zippers are laying right on the ground. Major design flaw that allows rain to fall directly on all the corners and seams and all over most of the front door and allows muck to gather in the zipper too making it hard to use. There was literally no hope. We ended up leaving it at the last campground. Beware-Its a fair weather tent ONLY.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great tent

I bought this tent at Canadian Tire in the late 90's and it has been used about 30 times. It has never torn and all the poles & zippers are still in great working condition. I once lost one of the plastic elbow connectors and the manufacturer sent me a replacement part completely free of charge, no hassle at all. I love the vestibule area for storage and dirty footwear, and I love the spacious interior. It even has nylon partitions that can be optionally hung to create privacy rooms inside the tent.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Very satisfied with this tent

I bought it 10 years ago and used it between 3 and 5 times every year. It has performed well with heavy rain and moderate winds. I have seen people camping around with different tents getting their stuff soaking wet and my tent so far has been keeping us dry all the time. I apply waterproof solution on it every couple of years. Due to the size of this tent is better to buy the big can and apply the waterproof solution with a paint brush.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Best tent we've ever owned!

We bought this tent ten years ago on a clearance sale. Setup the first time can be tricky, so practice run it or have patience. It fits our family of 7 quite nicely, and has room for the kids to have their friends in it as well. Poles are very sturdy. The material has held up very well through the years. Expect to spray it with water proofing spray around year 8. 10 years in and only one tiny hole that is the result of poor packing technique. No complaints, and as always, a solid tent from Coleman

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 10 of 31 Questions

Q: How weather proof is it? I am planning on keeping a tent up at my campsite all summer without a tarp. Would this tent withstand the elements.

  • A: We have owned this tent for years and I would not keep this tent set up all summer. Sun, wind, UV light alone there is no tent on the market that would withstand that. We have had this tent leak, especially over the bay rooms (end rooms) as the water will pool if it rains strongly or for a long time. We have applied weather proofing and it has still leaked. No different than what any tent would offer...save a canvas tent but even those would leak ;)

Q: Can I please get the insturctions on how to fold to fit back into the bag?

2 Answers
  • A: obviously remove all poles etc. and leave all doors open 1. fold side room across main part of tent 2. fold second side room across main part of tent 3. DO NOT fold in half, fold one side of somewhat rectangular shape you have to the centre line 4. fold other side to centre line 5. Fold in half 6. use Pole bag to roll tent tightly starting at the back and rolling towards the main entrance. Tip: It is much easier if you keep the box from inside the bag, put the tent back in the box then put the box in the bag.

Q: Why is this cheaper than the other version? I see there are two tents alike, except this one has the front mess room and the other doesn't.. Yet the other is $60 more? The other version is called the Broadstone 10-Person Cabana Tent, 18 x 12.

  • A: Probably because they are poor quality and the only way to sell them is to reduce the price.

  • A: The tent is pretty large, we fit a queen size air mattress, two twin air mattresses and a playpen in the tent with our luggage with still room to walk around without stepping on anything.
