    Short Life on Turanza EL42

    I put 4 new Bridgestone Turanza EL42 all-season tires on my Mazda in July 2011 & drove on them through the city for just over 32,000 km. They now each have less than 2/32 tread depth. These tires do not have a mileage warranty. I am quite disappointed that they could not have served me for a much longer duration.

    REPLACED REAR FACTORY TIRES (TURANZA RUN-FLATS) AT 42,000 MILES WITH TIRES FROM FIRESTONE DEALERSHIP IN SHREVEPORT, LA. DEALER RECOMMENDED TURANZA EL42 BL P245/50R18 100W. PAID $863.31 INCLUDING LABOR. THEY ONLY LASTED 13,660 MILES. WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS DEALERSHIP AGAIN. REPLACED RIGHT REAR AGAIN AT 88,012 MI AND LEFT REAR AT 89,875 MI, BOTH HAD SCREWS IN THEM, BUT WERE NOT WORN OUT. ACCORDING TO MY MATH, THAT'S OVER 32,000 MILES ON THESE BRIDGESTONE TURANZA EL42 245/50/18/100V TIRES AND THEY WERE NOT WORN OUT. TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY THE BRIDGESTONE TIRES FROM THE FIRESTONE DEALERSHIP ONLY LASTED 13,000 MILES.

    These tires came on the car when we bought it used. I was skeptical when Isaw the bad reviews for the tire, then proceeded to drive 6,000 miles on a vacation out west. The tires handle fine unless you want to drive like a rally driver on wet pavement where they are a bit slick. They hold corners great on dry, curvy roads and on/off ramps where they make our Camry more than a match for thedowdy drivers who hold you back there. Tire wear seems just fine. They also stay BALANCED. Poor balance is my pet peeve for many tires I have boughtover the years. They do whirr a bit on the highway but not creating what one might call objectionable noise.This is a nice tire for family sedans driven by people who don't have their foot buried in the gas or brake pedals all thetime.

    I bought my car about 3 years ago and these tires were already on there. They looked fairly new, probably less than 10,000 miles on them. Since then,I've driven the car 60,000 miles with the same set, about 45,000 of those mileson the interstate, 15,000 in city driving conditions. I always balanced and rotated every other oil change and never once had uneven wear issues. I've noticed in the last 10,000-15,000 miles, the wet traction, road noise, and ride comfort categories have suffered. I was very surprised how long these tires lasted, given their ratings on tirerack.com. Decent tire for $100 a tire. Remember you do get what you pay for. I'm going to buy a different tire this time to see how long they last compared to this one and I'll buy this again if I'm unhappy with my other choice.
