Terrible experience with product and store

The coffee maker was not programmable, the buttons did not work. When I returned it to Canadian Tire store, within a week of purchase, the store refused to give me a refund, even though the item was defective!! Because the box was opened!! I could only exchange (for another defective one?) or get a store credit. Very disappointed. I will not buy from this Canadian Tire store again.

Terrific Simplicity Budget Coffee Maker

If you want a great cup of coffee first thing in the morning, this is your coffee maker. All I really need for a coffee maker to do is have a pot ready for us in the morning. The programmable timer is a must. You also get a solid Black and Decker appliance that makes terrific coffee. The vortex system produces a flavorful cup of coffee. It does brew slower than any previous coffee maker I've owned, but the wait is worth the great taste. When in my experience a good coffee maker has a life of about two years, it is not worth investing hundreds of dollars into a coffee maker. If this machine has a fault, it would be its control pad. It is not well illuminated and there seems to be a delay when pressed where you wonder if you actually activated a function. If this machine doesn't last long, it will probably be due to this faulty touch pad. If you want a great cup of coffee and want to dodge the pods this is a great choice.

Q: programmable can time be set just once or have to set it each time every day

A: You set the time you want it to brew once (unless power failure) but you have to press the "Brew Later" button every day. So when I add my water and ground coffee the night before I push the Brew Later button so it brews at the time I set it (eg: 6AM).

A: Thank you for your question regarding your Black+Decker Coffee Maker. To clean your coffee maker, you will want to follow the simple steps below. Your coffeemaker will take care of the rest. 1. Combine 6 cups of white vinegar and 4 cups of cold water in carafe. 2. Pour into water reservoir. 3. Make sure the lid of the carafe is in place and place empty carafe on the carafe plate. 4. Press and Hold the On/Off button for 4 seconds 5. On/Off Button LED illuminates (no blinking) 6. “CLEAN” scrolls through the display continuously and the Auto-Clean cycle begins. During the Auto-Clean Cycle Function: 1. Machine will brew approximately 5 cups of cleaning solution 2. Part of the mixture will brew through. Remaining mixture will be held in coffeemaker for 30 minutes before completing its brew through. 3. Machine will continue brewing remainder of cleaning solution Note: The entire cleaning cycle will take 45–60 minutes to complete. 4. When the coffeemaker completes the AUTO CLEAN cycle, it shuts off automatically. 5. Brew fresh water through appliance following instructions given in GETTING STARTED before brewing coffee again.
