The Super-X Legend has DIED

What has happened to Super X ammo? Years ago, it was the best and most consistent 22 ammo I could shoot in several of my rifles and handguns, but the past few years, it has become junk. Many FTF, poor accuracy, loose bullets and often, the chrono'd velocities are all over the place with some very weak rounds. I have several boxes left on the shelf, but that is where it will remain. I have FAR better performance with other brands, and even some brands' cheap, bulk ammo out performs what was once the best 22 ammo for my rifles. Sad, Super X was once a legend, and the days of their 22 Short HP has also vanished.

Look out squirrels and rabbits!

One of the most reliable and best grouping rounds out of my Ruger American Rimfire .22 long rifle. Same hole groups at 50 yards works for me. The quality control issues mentioned in older reviews must have been worked out.

Yes, I recommend this product.

The new crimped nose jhp is amazing

My Ruger American rimfire compact loves these. Tried nearly a dozen ammo types and loads in 17hmr and this Winchester load was the best. Not the 20gr that looks like the standard Hornady xtp 20gr, but the newer Winchester 20gr jhp that has a crimped nose. I tried both and the new style bullet grouped under .4 inch at 100 yards

Yes, I recommend this product.

  • Top center 3 shot group of new crimped nose 20gr jhp
  • Target board of tested rounds

Unsafe, dirty rounds

Neither of my guns shot this ammo. They were getting stuck in the wheel of my revolver, and also jamming in my pump, come to find out the cartridges were fracturing and getting holes in the side of the cartridge. They damaged The functioning of my pump. It was a very dirty round once spent. Accuracy was also an issue, after having issues I switched to a different round once re cleaning both guns, cycle improved and didn’t get stuck in the wheel of the other accuracy greatly improved Phone won’t let me add pictures

Disgusting, borderline dangerous

Running low on an old stock pile and decided to get some more ammo. Purchased this .22LR power point Super-X. Never in 30+ years of shooting ANYTHING have I witnessed such poor quality ammo. Are the projectiles supposed to be loose? Is this something new? I doubt it. Are the projectiles supposed to have this jagged cut at the base? It’s disgusting and appears dangerous. And the limited edition throwback box like it’s a testament when Winchester ammo was the best. It’s not even cool anymore.
