I just had this whole house generator installed to my delight. It works seamlessly with household with low noise level. I can run everything in my household without interruption. The only difficulty was using their APP since we are not very Teck savvy.

Q: Do you need to run the generac through a transfer switch

A: If you only want it for automatic operation in a power failure you need a transfer switch. You could hook up directly and turn on once started by flipping the breaker for power, but using a break as a switch is never recommended. Generac is made for power failures not for full time power like for a cottage or something similar. There maybe be better generator for that out there for continuous use.

Q: What comes with the 22kw generator? Does it come equipped with everything for complete hookup with exception of the battery. If not what else will need to be purchased for this model? Please add product #'s.

A: A battery (does not ship with it) A transfer switch – this part depends on the electric box in the house: 0550400 100A CSA AUTO TRNSFR - 100 AMP AUTO TRANSFER SWITCH 0550401 200A CSA AUTO TRNSFR - 200 AMP AUTO TRANSFER SWITCH If a cold weather kit is needed (recommended for anything north of the GTA): 0550402 BATTERY PAD WARMER - BATTERY PAD WARMER FOR GENERAC HOME STANDBY GENERATORS 0550403 OIL FILTER WARMER - OIL FILTER WARMER FOR GENERAC HOME STANDBY GENERATORS 0550404 BREATHER KIT - BREATHER WARMER KIT FOR GENERAC HOME STANDBY Finally – anything else would be dependent on the exact install. Additional piping, propane tank, or other hardware may be needed but the electrician installing it would have to note this to the homeowner.

Q: Regarding the 22 KW Generac, ( propane powered ), Can this unit be installed inside a building, and exhausted to the outside environment? Is there an approved installer in Whitehorse?

A: No the unit cannot be installed inside a building and vented. There are no approved installers in Whitehorse. I do recommend contacting their local electrician who in many instances has installed a Generac before and are able to completing the task. We ask that they follow our instructions when installing.

Q: I am considering this generator but need to know what would be the best tank size to run propane.. no natural gas option here.

A: I typically recommend a minimum of 420 lb tank if they are not using it for anything else but the HSB. 500 Gallon is a very popular option and likely the best option as the supply will last quite a while.

Q: With a 22kw generator, What size and how many propane tanks is needed to run the generator, cant get an answer from either Generac or a propane company?

A: he 22kw are rated at 240 volts. With regards to what size propane tank you would need, the 22KW will consume between 10 and 15 litres of propane per hour at half to full load. The size would likely be a 400 lb or 500 lb tank seems to be the most popular. We recommend speaking to your local propane provider for best results.
