What sanding discs do I need for power sanding?

It’s good to have multiple power sanding discs that vary in grittiness. For courser textures for the early rounds of sanding, sanding discs in the 40 to 50-grit range are best. As you progress towards smoother detailing, the 60 to 100-grit range is where you’ll want to be. Some fine sandpapers can range from 120 to 220-grit but are not typically used with power sanders.

What is the strongest grit for power sanding?

60 to 80-grit sandpaper is a great for power sanding when taking off significant strips of wood or rounding off tough corners. There are some extra-coarse sandpapers that are extremely strong for tackling thick layers of dense wood, with some power sanding sheets going as low as 24-grit.
