Reliance Products

We recommend that you rinse the inside of your water container with baking soda and water a few times between each use. The suggested ratio is 1/2 cup (118 ml) of baking soda per one gallon (3.78L) of water.

Vinegar and water can be used to clean your container. The suggested ratio is 1 cup (250ml) of vinegar per one (1) gallon (3.78L) of water.

Make sure to rinse out the container with water after cleaning with any of these recommended solutions.

Q: Is there a trick to aligning the spigot? Both of mine face up when fully tightened. If I turn them to face down so the spigot can be used, they leak. Are they designed to face down and I have a couple duds, or is everyone else dealing with the same?

A: Just a bad design. This o-ring fits and adjusts about 1/4-1/6 turn counterclockwise effective in my experience, #063-0648-0 "PlumbShop O-Rings Seal, Rubber, Black, 7/8 x 11/8-in".

Q: How do you prepare the inside of the Water Container for storing water? Is just rinsing it out good enough?

A: We use hot tap water and baking soda left for overnight. I shake it a few times because the baking soda will settle. Empty, rinse it out then fill with water.

Q: The blurb under the picture says that you can stack them high for storage. The response says only stack two filled. That's not very high. What's the discrepancy? We've bought a few of them.

A: The spouts need to be reversed into the tank to stack nicely. But the base of the tank is not wide enough or flat enough to safely stack higher than two, they would be wobbly when stacked because the sides are the widest part of the tank. To keep them from tumbling you would have to stack them against something else. I will say the plastic is thick enough to withstand quite a bit of wear and tear, we have definitely had the same tanks for over 10 years for camping and out at the cabin. They still work great!
