New filter had mold growth

Took the filter out of the box and noticed the edges of the blue middle layer had some brown spots. Peeled back the white layer of the filter to find that the entire surface of the blue layer was covered in brown spots. I’m guessing this was mold or some other bacterial growth. Needless to say, the filter couldn’t be used and had to be I thrown out. Of course, the filter was purchased months ago and I no longer had the receipt. Be sure to check the filter for quality right after purchasing if you don’t intend on using it right away.
