What are the different types of safes?

All safes can come with digital locks or keyed locks. The main types include:

Safes are made of steel and have heavy-duty locks on a front-opening door and may be waterproof and fireproof.

Safe chests open from the top and provide waterproof and fireproof storage for documents, these chests have handles so they can be moved more easily than safes.

Key boxes are used to secure and provide controlled access to keys, for example at rental properties or offices.

Drop boxes let you easily add contents to a locked container and are typically used by businesses.

Cash boxes are typically used by businesses to secure and lock away money.

Where should I put my safe box in my house?

A good rule of thumb is to put safes on the ground floor at a corner with two outside walls to provide protection and support.  The garage is considered the worst place.

What can I use safes and lock boxes for?

You can use them to protect any important documents, devices, or valuable belongings from theft, fire, and flooding.

Are fireproof safes really fireproof?

Fireproof safes are designed to protect their contents from the intense heat of a fire for a certain amount of time, up to an hour. If a fire burns very hot or long, it can heat the inside of a safe enough to damage its contents.

How safe are lock boxes?

Lock boxes are very durable and provide a reasonable amount of safety for their contents. If they're tucked out of the way and hard to find, they offer a lot of protection.
