What are the different types of carriers for bikes?

Here are the types of bike car carriers available at Canadian Tire.

• Hitch-Mounted Hanging

• Hitch-Mounted Platform

• Roof-Mounted

• Trunk-Mounted

Hitch-mounted carriers require a trailer hitch. Hanging mounts allow you to attach bikes to hooks by their top tubes. Platform mounts secure bikes by their wheels. Roof-mounted carriers hold bicycles upright by their wheels or laying down flat by their body tubes and require a roof rack system. Trunk-mounted bike car carriers are a type of rack that attaches to your vehicle's trunk or hatchback.

How do I choose the right bike carrier?

Firstly, pick a carrier that is compatible with your car. Hitch-mounted carriers are used with Hatchbacks, Sedans, SUVs and trucks. Roof-mounted carriers are used for Coupes, CUVs, Hatchbacks and Sedans. Secondly, consider how many bikes you'll need to transport as the different styles are designed to carry a specific number.
