FT009

This is a great hobby boat to start out with. It has lots of power (not on same category as $300 racing models) and is a tonne of fun. Lots of people here are saying no replacement parts or extra batteries are available - this is just NOT true. Parts can be purchased from MANY online retailers (banggood, tmart, ebay, amazon, hobbyking) - just do a search for FT009 spare parts. Parts are cheap too. Bought two (green and orange) - green worked perfect out of box (after disabling the known defective safety feature that WILL leave your boat stranded if left enabled) but the orange would not connect (red flashing light from controller box in hull). Hours of research on google suggested that a connection in the transmitter (hand held controller) was the cause - took it apart (8 mini screws) and disconnected and reconnected the 'B+' connection and now it works fine (this defect out of the box is why it is not a 5star). Not sure why the decals on the boat are different than the stock FT009 (no indication that this is an FT009).

Yes, I recommend this product.

Gift of the year

My son loves this boat !Great on the lake and awesome distance in regards to remote control. Had a little difficulty with sensors, boat has to be in water to work. My son asked to buy another in order to race against his father. Downsides : 4-8 hours to charge for a maximum of 10-15 minutes of play, no spare batteries available to purchase and out of stock in all stores ! Regardless, this is by far my sons best and favorite thing to do this summer.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great little boat for it's price

Heavy boat and really books it!! Only complaint I have is that the lithium battery runs out VERY quickly (within 5-7 mins) if you are using it at top speed. Turns on a dime and has a great rooster tail

Yes, I recommend this product.

Buy it and enjoy!

It is one those things every boy (even big) would like to own. I purchased one for myself to sacrifice it during my yacht trip with friends. For the price I paid I did not expect nothing special and was sure that the boat will be ruined after several minutes in salt water. To my very big surprise this toy exceed all expectation. It runs super-fast! Remote control works perfect and I did not managed to find what is maximum distance as the boat was too far to see, but still followed my commands. Special fun was to ride it in wavy sea. It can jump vertically from a wave and make spectacular somersault in an air. I used Vaseline to seal lid, but some water still got inside. I just rinsed internal area with fresh water and never had problems with electronics or motor. Highly recommend to those who still feels like a boy!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Extremely poor quality

Unfortunately, this rc boat is very poor quality. I purchased 4 of them as a Christmas gifts. The first boat sank within 30 seconds of hitting the water. The design seems to be very poor as each one took on water and fried the electronics within the boats. Also, remotes did not allow more than one boat to be used at a time.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: are you able to change the frequency on these boats so you can run two of them at a time

2 Answers
  • A: It's a 2.4 ghz system so each time you turn it on it binds with the boat after checking for an unused frequency. Many boats at a time should be no problem.

Q: please clarify So, the controller is off. I then put the fully changed boat in the water. I then, as quick as possible, turn the controller on so it can sync up. Is this correct? if yes, how "fast" should the boat turn on? Will dirty water effect the sensors?

1 Answer
  • A: That is correct. When you put the boat on the water, the power of the boat will be connected, and it is on. And turn on your controller, push the trigger of the controller lowest position, and then push it to the highest position for frequency pairing, then the boat will start moving.

Q: Just can't make it start Hi, ive plugged the battery for at least 14 hours, drop the boat in the pool and it won't work. Remote light showed sync. Bring the boat back to store, new boat does the exact same thing. What am I doing wrong.

1 Answer
  • A: Please try follow steps again: 1) remove the battery and connect the battery in the boat again. 2) put the boat in the water, and turn on the remote controller at once. Please try your best to turn on the controller within 3-5 second after you put the boat in the water. If the time is too long, the boat will not sync with the controller. It is why the remote controller showed sync. After turning on the controller, you should push the power stick up and then push it back to sync the controller and boat.

Q: Where can I order parts? We broke the propeller on the first run. Thankfully it comes with a spare. I bought this for my 9 year old daughter and although it recommends 14+ years, she can drive it just fine. The speed control is great. Sadly it was dad that broke it.

Q: HI, I charged the battery, but when i put it in the water it was stuck in reverse and forward was only 1/4 power. reset, still the same

1 Answer
  • A: The battery for the boat is powerfull one at 1500 MAH, it need to be charged about 3-4 hours. Please make sure your battery is fully charged. And the boat has safty device, it will be activated only in the water and with enough power. Why the boat is stuck in reverse...........You should make sure the battery is full power, and you have sync the boat and controller. Then pull the power stick on the controller to make the boat forward, and push the trigger backward quickly. Please check instruction on top of page 5.
