Perfect but...

lessons learned: - tie a string to its top, to hold it in place vertically until there is plenty of side tension...or be ready to go fishing for it - the spring length and tension is designed to take into consideration that the rubber puck shrinks under compression. Don't cut it...or be ready to go fishing for the cut piece - check that the valve stem (inside the spring) is completely screwed into the valve...or be ready to go fishing for the fallen bit - for convenience, start turning the compression screws before full entry into the drain pipe ...or be ready to chase it vertically down the pipe

Yes, I recommend this product.

installation instructions not exact

it already comes expanded, the first step is to loosen the screws, the instructions don't mention that

These Flood valves are really necessary around these parts

I didn’t realize such a thing existed. Nice to have it in different sizes.

Easy peasy

Easy to install. Just follow the instructions! A little DIY: I cut/shortened the spring, which leaves a small gap once the valve is in its final position so that I can continue to use the floor drain to drain condensation from the air conditioner and humidifier lines in the house, or just in case of an emergency (leaking water heater, broken pipes, etc). The valve will close in the event of a sewage backup.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Requires too much pressure to drain

Easy to install but it takes a lot of water to weigh the valve down so it opens and drains. It might work well for preventing backflow but if you have a leak or puddle from a water heater, busted pipe, etc., I think it would take a lot of water to accumulate before there was enough weight on it so it opened and actually started to drain. I think I'm going to return it...

Questions

1 - 1 of 1 Question

Q: How does it work when flood stops..ie..where does the water go or does it just recede back in sewage drain out side

1 Answer
  • A: In the event of overflow/flood it would just stop the water from overflowing until the water recedes back to house drain.
