    Driveway Asphalt

I thought my driveway would require only one or two cans. Howeverm it took me 5 cans. Still looks great.

Easy to apply and covers a large surface

My asphalt was very old, I've tried another brand first and one bucket have covered a very small surface. Then I've bought this and it covered around 40% more.

    Works well, deep black

Works well, deep black. This is the first time we have used this one and also used a squeegee as well as a roller. Using both seemed to fill deeper holes and cracks well on top of us patching the deepest holes with a different product. Either the squeegee or the switch to this brand caused us to get a second (used half) bucket but the end result was great. From afar looked brand new. Note previously we got by on one bucket only by really skimping on the end of the driveway which is separated by the side walk. Checking the stated coverage on the can it did what it said it would. Double drive typical 70's Toronto suburb semi

Q: how is it best applied roller or squeege

    3 Answers
    • A: Excellent question! A squeegee must be used to spread product and for proper application rates. After application with squeegee, a follow up with a brush may be used if a textured surface is desired. Complete the entire driveway in one continuous application to prevent “color shading”. Should you have more questions or need to discuss the particular requirements of your project, please reach out to us at 1-800-237-1155.

Q: Will this product transfer black colour to garden hoses or other items that might be dragged across the surface?

    2 Answers
    • A: When the sealant is wet it's similar to paint, consequently the sealant and its colour would transfer to any object dragged across the wet driveway. However after the sealant has dried objects can be dragged across the driveway safely and wouldn't be affected.

    Q: Is this water-based?

    2 Answers
    • A: I'm not sure about being water based, there is water in it so probably yes, it takes a LOT of stirring. It's probably one of the better products out there. Black Jack leaves a really nice dark finish, almost the original colour when it was freshly paved. Some of the other stuff out there has this blue/purple tint that just sticks out and doesn't look good. Black Jack has a really nice black finish. I applied last summer and it still looks good (except in spots that the chains from the snowblower skuffed it up), so 2 years is about right.

Q: 1 pale covering how many sq ft area

    1 Answer
    • A: Excellent question! The approximate Coverage Rate (Per Coat) for a 4.75-gallon pail is 350 sq/ft on smooth driveways, and 300 sq/ft. on rough/worn driveways. Coverage rates vary depending upon the condition of the existing surface. A brush and/or squeegee works best, allowing the sealer to penetrate the driveway surface. Working in a small area at a time apply thin coat, brushing away any excess as you seal. Use a cross pattern of application to ensure all voids are filled and sealed. Q: we see -45 in the winter to +45 in the summer. I have seen pavement get upwards of 70 degrees C. how does this product stand up to those temperature ranges? and how often should you reseal a driveway?

    1 Answer
    • A: Thanks for the question. Due to the extreme low temperatures we do not recommend applying the asphalt sealer in these conditions. As far as how often to reseal with the Drive-Maxx 200, typically every 2 years but this will vary depending on weather conditions as well. If you have further questions you can contact our customer service at 1-800-237-1155 to get additional product information and proper prep and application instructions.

Q: What is the coverage area and why is that notrprovided in the specs for these kinds of products

    1 Answer
    • A: Thanks for your question. The approximate coverage rate for a 17 L pail: 32.5 m2 on smooth driveways, 28 m2 on rough/worn driveways. Along with preparation and application information, the coverage rate is listed on the label, as well as on the Technical Data Sheet (TDS). You'll find the TDS and helpful how-to videos on the individual product page of www.BlackJackCoatings.ca. All the best with your project!
