Q: When I push the handle down, air goes out, but when I pull the handle up it sucks the air back out (both sides). Is it just defective? The staff at the store were puzzled.

A: I am having the exact same problem. I am aware of the inflate/deflate ports on the handle. It doesn't matter which side the hose is attached to, the result is the same. I get an equal amount of inflation as deflation, in other words it blows as much as it sucks. So what is going on here. Something is not opening on the up stroke to prevent it from just sucking what you just pumped in. Could it be the small rubber flaps in the inside Or lubrication?

A: Hi Jojo, On the handle of the pump there is a port on both sides. If you attach the hose to one side it will inflate the item it’s connected to on both the upstroke and the downstroke. If you attach the hose to the other side it will deflate the item on both the upstroke and the downstroke. You need to make sure the ring at the top of the main pump cylinder is tight, as that is what forms the air seal. It is just below the handle.
