Works but there is a small problem

I read the reviews and saw that someone had mentioned battery draw from the unit even if nothing is plugged in. Sounded silly. Went and bought one. Noticed the voltage on my motorcycle battery was low. Pulled the inline fuse and checked sure enough the charger was drawing 14 mIlliamps nothing plugged in! This is a small enough draw that it shouldn’t matter over a day or two but a week or longer you will start to damage your battery. So I’m going to use it for my three day trip then pull the fuse after to save my battery. I’d recommend it because it’s a cheap option and easy to get. But be aware don’t leave it connected well your machine is sitting for long periods of time. It charges my iPhone 11 fine and tried a iPad Pro for fun watched a video and it managed to top charge the iPad about 1% in 20 minutes while watching YouTube. Not bad.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 2 of 2 Questions

Q: Will this drain the battery while there are no USB devices connected?

1 Answer
  • A: There would be a very, very small current drain. If the vehicle/battery is in regular use, it would be inconsequential. If the vehicle/battery is in storage, period charging would be suggested, no more so than you would normally do to offset the battery's natural self-discharge.

Q: Are the USB slots different amps? If so which is which?

1 Answer
  • A: The total amps available from both ports combined is 3.1A. So if you have one device plugged in and it's drawing, say, 2.1A, then the most you can get out of the other will be 1.0A.
