For accurate drilling in wood

Regular high speed steel (HSS) bits will "skate" when you first start drilling into wood. You can stop the problem by using a nail set or an awl to punch a dimple in the wood that will hold the bit tip in place. You can eliminate this step if you use brad point bits. The nib on the tip keeps the bit from wandering. Just line up the nib with the pencil mark and you will get accurately centered holes every time.. These aren't DeWalt's titanium pilot point bits, but then you aren't paying the same price. You can keep sharpening HSS bits for a lot longer than the titanium-coated ones.
