It's just okay

The connections between the three wired grids come with really small bolts that barely connect them together. I used zip ties to secure them more firmly to the frame. I got it on sale sot it's a good deal, but I would not pay full price for this.

Tough to install because of odd size

Thought this would be very useful and it is, HOWEVER, I had to install it by not following the instructions because WHERE would you find joists on 45” inch centers?? (Unit is 45”x45”) WHY would it not be 48”x48” to accommodate standard joist spacing?? Stupid design…
No, I do not recommend this product.

Amazing storage! We put 2 of these down the middle of the garage ceiling keeping the sides of the garage for other individual hooks etc. it was a little work reading the instructions and putting it together. It didn’t really tell you how to combine 2 of these. The storage space gained was so worth it!

Q: Finished garage ceiling installation instructions? Hi. I'm looking to at this as a storage option, but my garage ceiling has been drywalled. Does this need to be installed to the sides of the joists as shown in the product pictures or can this be installed to the bottom of the joists? Thanks!

A: My ceiling is drywalled as well and had no problem attaching through the drywall to the joist. Its been there for several years and no problems.

Q: Can they be used with engineered floor joists ? I have a finished drywall ceiling with engineered floor joists. Can these be used with under mount through drywall and into engineered floor joists ?

A: Yes, this is exactly how I installed mine. The wire shelves are stable because they are screwed into the bars on the bottom of the unit.

A: If you mean the white suspended ceiling strapping, no it will not handle the weight. You want to ensure the screws go directly into the ceiling joists to get the strength you need.

Q: Anyone know what the vertical distance is? Are the hanger rods adjustable for height?

A: You can adjust the hangers with a hack saw - I had limited storage above my garage doors and ended up with only 13" vertical. That worked out just fine and I still put a pile of lumber, gardening tools, auto roof racks etc. up there. This was a very workable solution to being a packrat for too many years.

Q: 250 lbs - presume I could store 4 tires on rims on 2 racks above garage door. Anyone tried this?

A: It may be within the weight limit but think you will find it hard on the shelf system to muscle tires around. I think your better off with one of the storage devices built for tires.

A: The installing screws in sku#068-0380 are used to be installed into the wood and are not suitable for use into a cement ceiling.
