Q: how do you reset the combination?

A: Previous answer is not correct. (Instructions are always on the package, anyway.) This lock (and all similar combination padlocks) are preset at the factory to open with the combination: 0-0-0. To set your own combination: 1. Set dial combination at 0-0-0. 2. Pull out shackle. 3. Turn shackle clockwise 270° (3/4 of a full turn) and press it down. [You might also be able to turn the shackle counterclockwise 90° (1/4 turn) instead, to the exact same position.] 4. Continue pressing the shackle down (! very important to not let the shackle pop up !) while you turn each combination digit to your desired combination. 5. Release the shackle and let it pop up so that it turns freely. 6. Return shackle back to locking position and push it in to connect it with the lock. 7. Rotate the combination dial to any random setting and the shackle will remain locked. 8. You can now use your combination setting to re-open the lock. 9. Repeat steps 1-5 at any time to change the combination setting.
