Awful. The ice continually tasted like plastic. I used the internal cleaning system twice due to this and washed it 3 times. The plastic taste would come back every two days. The basket would also fill up halfway and stop as it detected it was full.

pros make ice quickly and is relativly quite the down side is the ice is small and sits in the water it uses to make ice if not removed right away. The ice cubes have holes in the middle from the machine and they don't last very long in a drink

You are correct, the ice storage area is not refrigerated. It is intended that ice produced be periodically transferred to zipperlock bags for storage in a conventional freezer.
To make firmer/larger/drier ice, use colder water. Tip, let the first couple of batches of ice fall into the water reservoir to chill the water.

A: Yes. You just leave the ice in it. Some will eventually melt and then it just goes through the cycle again of making new ice. I love it. One of the best summer purchases k e made.
