Q: Can this fixture be used for a 250W heat lamp/bulb?

A: Yes, if the wiring is rated for it, is copper wiring, it is not in a small enclosed space like a closet, and it is away from any flammable surfaces. If your wiring is rubber-coated, cloth coated, OR was not installed in the last 3 decades, there could be a fire hazard. Most modern cables withstand 90 degrees C and are labelled NMD90.
