Love the Lagostina line. I have the 4 qt in the orange that I purchased about two years ago. It was perfect for making soups. This recent 5 qt oval purchase is great for making stews. Products are well made - durable and beautiful.

fantastic product have 3 different sizes
however this one particular pot the inside finish started to chip after 6 months unfortunately I have no receipt client service today refused to even call a manager to review my situation I am a very well known client at the plateau CT
I do understand no receipt but its clearly there product and clearly not old
so after 6 months inside ceramics started to chip no receipt no replacement

We have had both the round and the oval pieces for roughly 8 yrs and have not had a single issue. Love them! Cooks evenly. Goes stove top to oven. Based on our experience, we'd definitely recommend these as quality without spending big bucks for a swanky namebrand. Regular price has come down a fair bit on these as our oval was approx $280 (although we bought on sale for under $100).
I see some people commenting negatively on the weight. Strange, as enameled cast iron cookware IS heavy. So weight is to be expected.
Also, care is required when cleaning ANY enameled cookware.
The person who gave 1* praised the product and mentioned the price being 25% of Creuset price (so 1* is a typo).
Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Is this the same thing as a dutch oven?

A: Yes and no. American Camp dutch ovens have a rimmed tight fitting lid that can hold coals on it, have feet at the bottom to sit on top of a fire and are generally used for outdoor cooking even tough they can be used indoors. European style dutch oven are also called french oven or casserole and are traditionally used on the stove top or in the oven. You'll find both types are mostly made of cast iron but the french ovens can be enameled or even made from earthenware. Casserole dish however are designed for oven use only and never to be used on the stove top. Hope that helps.

Q: Previously (3 yrs ago) someone asked if free of: lead/ cadmium/ etc ? The answer was a bit vague: "adheres to Prop 65 act" . I have Enviro Illness and need to know if ANY of these chemicals are in this pan?

Q: Does anyone know the address or phone number of Lagostina office? I need to reach out to them to resolve the enamel coming off the product. The published ones in Scarborough, Ontario is incorrect and nobody picks up the 1800 number.

A: No. It’s cast iron. It has a cast iron rim at the top and so does the lid. It would ruin it and cause it to rust. Never put cast iron or even coated cast iron in the dish washer.
