I learnt of these a long time ago and just a week or two ago i built up a library with 2x12 white pine and used a router to slot for shelves using 5/4 pine. I pre drilled and used the trim screws to fasten the shelves; love these screws as if you get close all you see is an embedded black Philips.......

I’ve driven perhaps millions of screws and these even though they have a square drive head are BEYOND GARBAGE. Do not buy these screws you will be as dissatisfied as I am with them. Unfortunately no one actually tested this screw design because these really shouldn’t even be sold as they are. The major problem with these screws is that there is not enough depth in the drive hole to insert the bit far enough. Canadian tire should take these off the shelf and replace them with GRK or Spax brand screws that use a torx head, I have used those and they work as intended these only work if you pre drill the whole depth and use a brand new #1 Robertson (square drive) bit.
