I bought this Garmin GPS about a year ago its works its supposed to have a lifetime update included I have tried to update the map it will not let me update

Good Features at a Good Price

I had a Nuvi 1450 for years and really liked it but the last time I tried to update the maps under my Lifetime Maps update, it erased all my maps and would not reconnect to my PC. So, I purchased this Drive 52 as a replacement. It doesn’t have all the features of the Nuvi but it is similar. So far, after a few weeks, I am adjusting to the new GPS and it is okay.

I just got it the other day and only been learning how it works. One thing of note…..the battery is not holding any charge!

A: Thank you for your question! No, the Garmin Drive 52 is designed for on the road navigation. The device will not contain trail mapping or have any compatibility with topographic mapping of any sort.

A: No, this model doesn’t include the Voice Command feature. You may want to look at the Garmin DriveSmart™ models for this feature.

A: It has a warning if over speed limit. I do not think you can pre set a number.

Q: When buying this item of the shelf, does it need updating right away? We’re travelling and would like to purchase but not sure if I can update right away but do need it right away.

A: The GPS 52 was made in 2019. I bought mine in 2020 and I updated it twice since then. So I would say yes you should update yours asap. If you are traveling you could maybe go to a public library to do it.

Q: Can this model use a USB port in the car for charging? Also, when fully charged, how long will it last in the car if not plugged in? (12V thing in our car doesn't work)

A: If you use the good cable (not the usual samsung/phone connector) and have sufficient current delivered, it shall work! you have also the Garmin car adaptor/charger. but not recommending this GPS model as internal battery don't last and after few months you need the adaptor permanently if you still want to use it!
