One of the screws was not punched/ stamped. Had to tighten w nose pliers.

OK, but the bench is too high

I'm tall. Sitting on the bench feels awkward. I assume someone less tall would have a serious challenge sitting on it, and children would need to climb up.
I think they used the same frame as one without a box. The box support should be ~6" lower than it is in order for this to be comfortable.
Otherwise it's fine.

the hooks can't handle too much weight for too long, two of the hooks on mine have snapped and I haven't been able to repair them with any type of glue yet.

Q: Can the top of the coat rack be removed so it's just the bench?

A: To reduce the risk of serious injury and avoid the potential for unit tipping over, needs to install the tip restraint hardware through the top of coat rack. Also, if remove the top of coat rack, the whole frame will be unstable. So the top of coat rack can't be removed. Please note.

A: Allen key and Phillips screwdriver are required to put this entryway coat rack together, and hammer is required to mount this to the wall. Please kindly note that the Allen key has been included in the hardware bag.
