Product Details

The Bosch HD18-2 Two-Speed Hammer Drill features a muscular 8.5 Amp motor that handles all masonry drilling applications, delivering a max of 51,000 BPM for muscle and durability. The tool's drilling capacities range from 3/4- In. for masonry applications to 1-1/2- In. for wood. The HD18-2 features a torque-control auxiliary handle, which locks into place; the handle has a built In. depth gauge. The dual-mode selector easily converts from rotation-only to hammer-drill mode. Cheap Harbor Freight beats Expensive Bosch Drill

I’ve owned this drill for several years. Until recently it was only used for small quick jobs. Such as hammer drilling a 1/4” hole in mortar to use a plastic anchor. Last week I finally had the opportunity to “show off” my Bosch hammer drill. What a disappointment! I needed to drill a series of 3/4” holes. After about a dozen holes the drill stopped functioning. A buddy I was working with pulled out his Harbor Freight hammer drill (that I had made fun of) and finished the job without incident. Needless to say I was on the receiving end of quite a bit of smack talk that a cheap well used Harbor Freight hammer drill outperformed my like new expensive Bosch. Hard to believe how poorly this drill is made.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Powerful tool

I bought this tool to drill and install several10 inch 1/2 inch lag bolts. It did it without hesitation, but be sure to have a firm grasp of this powerful tool. There was a bit of an electrical smell when I first start using it, but I’m hoping it was just a first time use smell.

    Junk

I have this drill about 4 years and had very little use. The switch gave out while drilling a couple of hole in wood. It looks like new but is junk!!!! When you spend a couple of hundred dollars on a drill you expect to get better use than what this gave me. I don't recommend this product to anyone, not even my worst enemies.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Admittedly have had it a few years, but has seen limited use. On our jobsites, the cordless gets handled the most unless some serious concrete fastening is called for. Otherwise, this sits on the shelf. Bought it and it died within a few months, Bosch took it back and repaired under warranty. Has sat for a bit, brought it out with me Monday for drilling 3/16" tapcon pilot holes for a bunch of PT strapping into concrete and we smoked out the motor again. I preach 'let the tool do the work' and always provide correct, new, and sharp drill bits. No way I'd allow someone to lean in and overwork the tool. Not safe or efficient. Overall, I still think it's a strong tool, we seriously have gotten a lemon though. There's no way this one could be considered a tool that has seen heavy abuse or heavy daily use. Weve got plenty of thise that are still kicking. It cost too much to have jobsite tools that are unreliable. Making me think hard about replacing it with another.

No, I do not recommend this product.
