Q: if this unit is mounted vertically in a sump does the switch to power your pump activate when the float is pushed up or in the down position?

A: This product must be mounted vertically. As the water level rises it pushes the float up which activates the switch.

A: The 62-4127 vertical float switch can be used in a sewage application but it is not recommended. If it's used in that application, it should be positioned so debris will not fall onto the float ball. This could cause the float to not activate as the waste level rises in the pit..

Q: Is the unit water tight, completely water proof? On occasion the ground fault has tripped and the sump pit has flooded causing the entire switch unit to be under water.

A: Yes, the entire switch is completely waterproof. There will be no problem if the switch is completely submerged.

Q: What range are they good for? My sump is 12 inches deep

A: This switch has an adjustable operating range which varies depending on the pump it is attached to. Generally speaking the range is “ON” when the water level reaches around 6 inches and “OFF” when the water level drops back down to around 2 inches.

A: This switch is electro-mechanical. It contains a micro switch inside the float housing. It is activated magnetically with magnets in both the float rod and in the housing.
