STEP 1

Start by turning off the water supply to the toilet.

Look under the toilet tank and locate the shut-off valve. If your house is older, you may have to shut off the water supply where it comes into your house.

STEP 2

Flush the toilet to empty the tank.

STEP 3

Inspect the supply line and replace if necessary.

STEP 4

Place the bucket under the water supply line.

STEP 5

Disconnect the water supply from the toilet.

STEP 6

Disconnect the overflow hose and remove the old fill valve kit.

STEP 7

Read the manufacturer's instructions to prepare the replacement kit for installation.

STEP 8

Install the replacement fill valve kit.

STEP 9

Turn on the water supply and check for leaks.

STEP 10

Adjust the level of the float.

Adjust the level of the float so that the water level is about ½ inch below the overflow tube.
