PRODUCT AVAILABILITY & STORE INVENTORY

Checking product availability and store inventory

To check on the availability of a product at a store near you, please fill out the “Please select a pickup location to check inventory” section found on all product detail pages. This will identify all stores in your search area. Select your preferred store from the ones identified and click the “Select Store” button. Once this selection is made, store availability will appear on all product detail pages.

In Stock

The store had at least one item available at the time we received their inventory information.

Not in Stock

The store did not have this item at the time their inventory information was transferred to us, but may have added new stock since. We suggest you call the store to confirm availability.

Call Store for Availability

We have no accurate information about this store's stock position. Please call the store for more information.

How do I check store inventory in another city or postal code?

At any time, you may change your current store inventory search by clicking on the “Check Other Stores” link on the inventory section found on all product detail pages. Simply enter a new address, city or postal code, click on the “Find Stores” button on the left side and a new set of stores will be listed below, based on your new criteria.

If I want to check inventory for another product at the same group of stores, will I have to re-enter my Address, City or Postal Code?

No. Once you've selected which store you want to check, you can close the window and navigate to another product. The store availability for each product you view will be shown automatically. Should you want other stores, simply click on the “Check Other Stores” link and enter another province, city or postal code.

Why can't I find my local Canadian Tire store on the list of results, even though I selected the right city?

If you checked inventory in a larger urban centre, the list of stores may be presented in alphabetical order on more than one page. Click on the page numbers at the bottom of the list, or on the "previous/next" arrows to see more stores. If you do not see page numbers in the results, we suggest you go back to the list of cities and find yours under another label, e.g., instead of "Richmond", you could look under "Vancouver Region" or "Vancouver". Alternatively, you can always enter the postal code of your home/office/cottage, etc.

Should I call ahead to double-check if the item will be available when I am ready to buy it in store?

Yes. We encourage you to call ahead to confirm the price and availability of the product you're interested in.

What should I do if the item is out of stock?

Once in a while, distribution problems may occur and a number of stores in a region may be out of stock on a particular item. It is best to call your local store to check the earliest availability date.

Do you guarantee that in-store inventory information is correct?

No. Although great care is taken in keeping the information on this website current, changes may occur without notice. We receive inventory information from our stores across Canada typically once a day and inventory changes during the day are not reflected in the information provided.

CORE CHARGE & ENVIRONMENTAL FEE / FREIGHT & PDI

What is a core charge?

A core charge, sometimes called a casting charge, is a form of deposit you pay on a car part until returning your old part. If you do not have the old part with you at the time of purchase of the new part, you must pay the core charge. That charge is refunded to you when you return the old part. Like a bottle deposit, the charge is designed to encourage recycling.

When is a core charge applied?

Certain remanufactured parts such as alternators, starters, CV shafts, brake callipers, and distributors contain a "core" or recyclable component. When you purchase any of these parts, a core charge will be added to the purchase.

When you return the part, the recyclable component is returned to the part manufacturer for rebuilding and recycling.

How do I receive a core charge refund?

Exchange the old part at the time of purchase OR bring the old/original part, in the replacement part's box, along with your purchase receipt to any Canadian Tire store within 90 days of purchasing the replacement part.

*Stores will inspect the returned part to ensure the recyclable components are intact. If they are, the core charge will be returned. If they are not, then the customer will not receive a core charge refund.*

What is an environmental fee?

An environmental fee is a fee that is collected to help fund the disposal and recycling of household products.

This fee helps ensure that these products are collected, recycled, reused or, when that is not possible, disposed of in the most environmentally-friendly way.

In Quebec, Bill 60 legislation requires that advertised product prices include environmental fees and core charges. On canadiantire.ca, Quebec customers will see their store's environmental fees and core charges clearly displayed in the Total Price.

What is a freight charge?

A freight charge is added to large products such as ATVs to cover the cost of shipping.

What is PDI?

PDI refers to the Pre Delivery Inspection fee. It is added to ATVs to cover the cost of wheel, handlebar and control levers installation, and battery charging and installation.

SAFETY DATA SHEETS

Where can I find Safety Data Sheets?

SIZING GUIDELINES

How to Measure

  • Height - Stand straight and tall, in stocking feet, against the wall. Place a stiff paper on top of your head, parallel to the floor and mark the wall. Then measure from mark to floor.
  • Chest/Bust - Stand normally, arms at sides. Measure over the fullest part of your chest/bust. Keep the tape snug, but not tight. For men, this may be under the arms at the widest area.
  • Inseam - Stand in stocking feet with legs slightly apart. Measure from the crotch, along the leg and down to the floor.
  • Head - Measure the circumference of the head with a tape measure, one inch (2.54cm) above the eyebrows.

Foot Sizing

Measure your foot following the guidelines provided:

  1. Measure your foot near the end of the day. This will compensate for the normal swelling that your feet experience each and every day.
  2. Put on the type of sock that you will normally be wearing for the footwear that you are about to select. As an example, if you wear a heavier sock with ice skates, then wear these when measuring your foot.
  3. Measure both feet and select the size that is the larger. As you may be aware, many people have one foot that is slightly larger than the other.
  4. While seated place your foot flat on a piece of paper.
  5. Using a pen or pencil, and holding it as straight upright as possible, place marks on the paper at the tip of your big toe and at your heel.
  6. Using a ruler measure the distance between these two points in either inches or centimeters.
  7. Refer to the following North American and European footwear-sizing chart. Remember to repeat this exercise for your other foot and use the larger measurement when selecting your footwear.

Here's our footwear size chart.

Driving Gloves

Driving Gloves are designed to fit snugly so as to provide a good grip on the steering wheel. Keep in mind that kidskin leather is very supple and will stretch a small amount.

There are two ways of determining your glove size:

  1. Measure around the top part of your hand (over the knuckles, excluding the thumb).
  2. Measure the width of your palm.

Here are our gloves sizing charts for the above measurement methods.

Mechanix Wear Gloves

Mechanix Wear recommends that the gloves fit as snugly as possible. There should be no excess material at the ends of your fingertips. Use the same sizing guidelines as for driving gloves (above).

Bikes

When sizing for an adult bike: Keep in mind that our adult bikes are designed ideally for ages 14 and up.

When sizing a youth or child's bike: Leg inseam and rim size are important.

Here are our bike size charts.

Bike Helmets

• A bike helmet should sit level across the forehead, just above the eyebrows.

• A helmet should not have significant movement or wiggle before you begin adjusting the straps.

• Straps need to be snug against the face and chin, but not too tight.

• The helmet should not move more than about an inch in any direction when you move your head up and down or side to side.

• Helmets should not pull off no matter how hard you try.

• Remember that helmets should be replaced every three years.

Here are our adult and youth / child helmets size charts.

Curling

Gloves
Curling gloves are selected based on the measurement from the base of your palm to the tip of your middle finger.

Grips / Sliders

Curling grips / sliders are selected based on your shoe size.

Shoes

Curling shoes should fit the same way as your street shoes; i.e., if you wear a size 7 street shoe, you should wear a size 7 curling shoe.

Here are our curling gear size charts.

Figure Skates

Figure Skates are of narrow build, so you should take one full size larger than your shoe size. For example, if your shoe size is 7, your figure skates should be size 8.

Fishing Chest Waders

Allow for your foot size as well as for your maximum inseam and chest sizes. The moulded boot fits like a street shoe, so select your normal footwear size and refer to this size chart for the other measurements.

Ice Hockey

'Youth', 'Junior' and 'Senior' are often used to describe sizes of hockey equipment and generally refer to the player's age group, which you can find on this chart. If specific sizing in inches or centimeters is available, these sizes are provided.

Elbow Pads
Elbow pads and glove size go hand in hand and must be fitted together. To determine elbow and glove size, measure from the tip of the middle finger to the mid-point of the elbow and add 1" to allow for the padding. The elbow pad/glove you choose should match this measurement. For example, if the physical measure is 14", the total length of the selected glove/elbow pad combo should be 15".

Gloves
Please refer to above section on "Elbow Pads".

Helmets
To order the proper size of helmet, measure the circumference of the head with a tape measure. Please note: helmets include some allowance for adjustment within the size ranges specified by the manufacturer. Please refer to this size chart.

Pants
In general, pants should fit according to waist size; however, if taller than average, buy a size up for extra length and protection in the thigh area. Please refer to this size chart.

Shin Pads
While seated, and wearing skates, measure the leg from the middle of the kneecap to the top eyelet of the skate. Subtract 1 /2 to 1" from the measurement and match this to the length of the shin pad.

Shoulder Pads
Proper fit affords the best protection. You can find the size chart here.

Hockey Skates
Select one full size less than the regular shoe size. For instance, if you normally take a size 8 shoe, order a size 7 skate.

Women wishing to purchase men's hockey skates must first convert their size to a men's size by subtracting one and a half sizes from the normal shoe size. For example, a women's size 9 equals a men's size 7.5. Then subtract one size to determine skate size. In this example, the proper skate size would be a men's size 6.5. It may be necessary to purchase a Junior size skate in some cases. Some sample conversions are shown here.

Socks
Measure from the top of the ankle to three-quarters up the thigh. Here are some typical sock conversions and age groups for proper fit.

Wood Sticks
Wood sticks are flex-rated "mid", "stiff" and "extra stiff" and should be chosen according to the player's weight. Small, lightweight players should use a "mid" flex stick. Players of average weight should select "stiff" and players who are heavier or larger than average should select "extra-stiff".

Aluminum and Composite Sticks
Most aluminum and composite sticks are flex-rated. Select the stick based on the player's weight for his/her size. If lighter than average choose "mid flex", if average, "stiff" and, if heavier, "extra stiff".

Sweaters
Jerseys must fit loosely in order to cover all protective equipment and also to let the upper body breathe. Select based on the shirt/pullover size normally worn. For example, if you usually wear a men's large, choose that size for your hockey sweater.

Throat Protectors
These are adjustable and fit based on collar size. For instance, if you wear a size 15 shirt collar, choose a throat protector that fits 14" to 18" (35-45cm).

X-Country Skiing

Skis
Stand barefoot on the floor and raise your arm above your head. The tip of the ski should reach the middle of your palm. Select this length of ski.

Ski Boots
Please refer to the footwear chart at the beginning of this section and note that all cross-country ski boots are only available in European sizes.

Ski Poles
Measure the distance from the floor to your armpit. That's how long your ski poles should be.
