Why do people use baseball batting gloves?
Both amateur and professional players wear batting gloves to help increase grip on the bat, improve comfort and control, and absorb shock. As the status of the game relies heavily on a good swing, these gloves are a great advantage to have as a batter.
What should I look for when buying batting gloves?
There are two things you should look for when buying gloves, including material and extra features. Whether softball or baseball batting gloves, two materials are commonly used for the palms of batting gloves: synthetic and leather. Synthetic gloves provide more of a stretch and are easier to close as they are made of a softer material. Unlike leather gloves, they also don’t require breaking in. Leather gloves provide higher quality than synthetic material and have a more natural feel and better grip. Some gloves also offer special features like a neoprene cuff or quick-adjust strap for better fit and flexibility, non-slip and breathable mesh panels, and enhanced grip.
How do I know what size batting gloves I need?
To find your size, measure the length of your dominant hand from the base of your palm to the tip of your middle finger. Ensure your glove is snug and not too loose or too tight. Use a size chart or guide for men, women, or youth sizing and determine your size – for example, 7” would be considered an S/M for men’s batting gloves and an M/L for women’s batting gloves.
