What are the rules of squash?
The basic idea of squash is to keep taking turns hitting the ball against the front wall. The round ends when the ball bounces twice, or a player hits it out of play. Some other rules include:
· You can only hit the ball once before your opponent
· The ball can only bounce once on the floor
· Players play to 11 points or 9 points depending on the type of game
· Players play to the best of five games
· The ball can hit any wall but must hit the front wall before the floor
· The lines at the top of the court or the “Tin” (bottom area on the front wall) are considered out
What do I need to play squash?
Apart from a court to play in, you only need a squash racquet and squash balls to play a game. Some people like to wear eye guards for extra protection, but this isn’t necessary.
What's the difference between squash and racquetball?
There are a few differences between the two sports, including the dimensions of the court, the length and width of the racquet, and the size of the ball. While squash considers the upper wall lines “out”, racquetball does not. They also have different scoring methods and serving rules.
