What are the different types of bows?
There are a few different types of archery bows, including the recurve bow, compound bow, and longbow.
· Recurve bow: Recurve bows are the most popular type of bow due to their power, speed, and accuracy. Since the limbs (the curved parts that the bowstring is attached to) make the bow lighter and shorter, they are easy to maneuver.
· Compound bow: Compound bows look most deviated from the traditional bow. The limbs are short and stiff, while the string is mounted onto a pulley system. Since they come with this system, the bow isn’t as strenuous to shoot.
· Longbow: Longbows are tall bows made from wood. They have narrow limbs and are simply made up of a long, curved wooden pole with an attached string.
What should I consider when buying a bow?
When purchasing a bow, consider the purpose of it, the size, the draw cycle – which encompasses the speed, smoothness, and control you have over the bow, the materials used, the type of bow, and the length of the bow. Shorter bows are considered better for hunting, while longer bows are good for target shooting.
