How can I increase my visibility when riding my bike?

Use bike lights, reflectors, and bike mirrors to maximize your visibility while cycling. You can also attach brightly coloured safety flags to your bike and wear bright or reflective clothing. Canadian Tire has a range of these essential, safe biking accessories available for kids and adults.

Are bike lights necessary?

Bicycle lights are not only important for safety but are also legally required in many regions. Bike lights provide visibility in low-light or poor weather conditions protecting cyclists and anyone they share the road with. Canadian Tire has a variety of cycling lights available, including lumen lights, flashing lights, laser lights and more.

Where should I place mirrors and reflectors on my bike?

Cycling mirrors should be mounted on your bike's handlebar on the left-hand side. Bike reflectors should, and are often required to be attached to:

• Bike pedals

• The Handlebar or front stem

• Front and Back wheels

• The back stem below the seat

You can also place reflector strips or tape on your clothes.
