What's the difference between a playpen and a playard?

Playpen and playard are terms that are often used interchangeably. They both refer to enclosed play and nap spaces to ensure your baby’s safety. As soon as your newborn is comfortable laying on their back, they can use a play mat. Babies between 3 and 6 months would enjoy it most.

What should I look for when picking out a playpen?

When it comes to choosing the right playpen for your little one, it’s important to put safety first. Look out for proper padding at the bottom of the playpen, height and weight restrictions, inspect the locks and the mesh sizing, and check for the JPMA (Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association) label, which ensures the playpen meets safety standards.
