What is the difference between polishing and waxing?
Polishing is buffing done with detailing products specially designed to remove any scratches and defects from your vehicle’s exterior paint. Whereas waxing is done as a final step, after all imperfections have been buffed, or polished out.
How do I detail my vehicle’s interior and exterior?
Detailing involves cleaning and finishing as many individual surfaces of your vehicle as possible. Before you begin, inspect your car to ensure you have all the correct cleaning and detailing supplies required for your specific vehicle. Here are some high-level steps to get you started:
INTERIOR
1. Start by removing any items (coins, cups etc.) from all crevices.
2. Dust all hard surfaces.
3. Vacuum all seats, carpets, floor pads and the trunk.
4. Clean hard surfaces such as the steering wheel, dashboard, cup holders, windows, windshield and mirrors with the appropriate cleaners.
5. Clean the car seats using the appropriate product based on their material (upholstery, vinyl, leather).
EXTERIOR
1. Begin with the dirtiest area - tires and rims.
2. Rinse and wash the exterior.
3. Polish the paint.
4. Clean all metal details (e.g., trim)
5. Apply wax.
6. Clean the exterior windows.
