Why are gun cases and cabinets important?

Gun cases and cabinets are primarily used to guard access against unauthorized or unqualified individuals, for burglary protection and, in capable gun safes, to protect enclosed items from damage by flood, fire or other natural disasters.

What features should I look for in a gun case or cabinet?

The top features to look out for when purchasing a gun cabinet or gun case are size, shelf space, metal gauge, fire rating, flood rating, number of locking points and lock type.

What is the difference between a gun safe and a gun cabinet?

The primary difference between a gun safe and a gun cabinet is its construction. Gun cabinets are lightweight, typically made of thinner gauge steel or wood and have a simple lock to secure the guns inside. Gun cabinets are not designed to be fireproof or waterproof, so they should not be used as an alternative to a gun safe. A gun safe is typically considered more secure than a gun cabinet because it has thicker walls and door panels with reinforced steel locking bolts and hinges. They also have a more complex locking system to help prevent theft and fire ratings to protect your guns and other valuables in the event of a home fire.
