I received the MG-100 as a gift. I would normally review product specs carefully, but didn’t do much homework on this particular model. I am appalled that Cuisinart would put their name on a grinder with aluminum parts. Meat grinders are inherently prone to contamination. Using a dishwasher to clean parts that come into contact with raw meat is the only way to ensure proper sterilization. Using cheap aluminum versus stainless steel should be a real source of shame for the product development and engineering teams at Cuisinart. Aluminum for raw meat is just gross. Handwashing chicken covered aluminum parts in my sink is disgusting and unsanitary, and I’m sure Cuisinart understood this when it opted to go cheap. This is the last Cusinart product that will enter my home.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Not even chicken bones? I just want to confirm the posts regarding the grinding of bones. Is it so that this grinder cannot even do chicken bones? They're way softer than beef bones obviously...

A: It will grind poultry bones; quite easily actually. However, the drive shaft is made from a soft metal and will strip. That's what has happened to mine after only using it about 6X; the drive shaft has stripped completely and no longer turns the feed screw. You might try breaking the bones into shards but, if the machine struggles at all, I strongly suggest turning the machine off or you'll be tossing it in the garbage.
